For this carving I wanted to capture the essence of old Key West- Hemingway. Redfish vary in color and I chose a darker phase to compliment the carved walnut water surface and tramp art base. The over-sized tail fin was carved from Mexican cedar for its golden color that is apparent in the reflection of the scales of Redfish. My inspiration for the tail that supports the fish was imaging a world made of wood and is meant to represent an old Red who has had some repairs over the years, perhaps repaired by Gepetto but he's still tailing along.
